The AANA and CRNA community suffered a great loss in March with the passing of Steve Mund, DNP, CRNA, CENP, FACHE. To help remember him and his legacy in the profession, Jeremy and Sharon wanted to go back and revisit a conversation they had with him in 2019 on the future of healthcare.

On This Episode:

You’ve probably heard the news by now that a great friend to the podcast and the CRNA community has passed. Steve Mund, DNP, CRNA, CENP, FACHE, was a member of the AANA Foundation Board of Trustees and the husband of AANA Vice President Angela Mund, DNP, CRNA, and his death will impact the community for years to come.

We’ve been lucky enough to get to know Steve through the years thanks to his service to the AANA, and we’re grateful that he shared his time with us on the show. He appeared on two separate episodes, one in 2019 and 2020, and we wanted to revisit that conversation again as we celebrate his life and accomplishments.

So today we’re doing something we’ve never done before. This will be a replay of that October 17, 2019, conversation we had with Steve about the future of healthcare. He had such great insight and perspective on the industry and how to improve it, and that’s why we wanted to share it one more time.

If you’d like to hear his other episode from 2020, here’s the link to listen. He provided some wonderful information about preparing for depositions and it’s worth your time.

Fighting for Inclusivity: How a CRNA Changed Her Community with Maureen McCartney Anderson

Our guest today has quite the story to tell about advocacy but it’s not the same advocacy we normally discuss on the show. Maureen McCartney Anderson, CRNA has been in-volved with her state association in New Jersey for a number of years and was on the path of advocating for professional rights, but that changed dramatically when her baby was born with handicaps. Now she’s pouring much of her energy into advocating for the special needs children’s population and making a difference in her community with the help of other CRNAs.

I started listening to this podcast religiously early on in my CRNA journey, a year before applying to CRNA school. The content in this podcast was one of my most helpful resources for getting into my first choice school, Wake Forest! It has also been a huge motivator for getting involved with the AANA now and throughout my career. I highly recommend this podcast to every prospective CRNA I meet.
