On This Episode:

After long hours and a lot of time on your feet, the last thing you want to do is think about a workout. Trying to balance work, life, and fitness can feel overwhelming. It’s a struggle we all deal with, right?

That’s where two CRNAs are trying to make an impact. Jamie Bailey, CRNA, and Jamie Chamberlain – also known as JB and JC – are starting to become the faces of fitness for nurse anesthetists thanks to a popular Instagram account. The two women began sharing their journey on the Instagram account Balancing.Fit by posting pictures of their lives in scrubs, with family, and in the gym.

Knowing how much we can all use a little motivation, especially right now, we decided to catch up with the two CRNAs for this episode of Beyond the Mask. We wanted to hear their journey and how their relationship began, which is a great story, but we also needed to know what the secret is to staying motivated every day.

That’s probably the biggest challenge we face because long days and physical shifts can wear you down. These ladies use each other for accountability, but how successful would you be trying to work out before 5 AM like they often do? We’ll try to get their secret for that.

Maybe the most important thing is how to get started. Whether you’ve never worked out a day in your life or just took some time off from fitness, JC and JB will give us tips to help take those first steps. And they’ll also tell us why you won’t see them discussing food and eating very much on their account.

This conversation comes at a great time because we’re all making changes to our daily routines and our lifestyle as we continue to battle the COVID-19 health crisis. Why not use this as an opportunity to focus on a healthier lifestyle.

Thanks again to JB and JC for joining the show and for all they do for CRNA fitness.

I started listening to this podcast religiously early on in my CRNA journey, a year before applying to CRNA school. The content in this podcast was one of my most helpful resources for getting into my first choice school, Wake Forest! It has also been a huge motivator for getting involved with the AANA now and throughout my career. I highly recommend this podcast to every prospective CRNA I meet.
