On This Episode:

Welcome to the inaugural episode of Grade 1 View! Before we jump into the topics and discussions impacting future CRNAs, we want to introduce you to our hosts: Kevin Chem, BSN, RN, Olivia Conn, MSN, RN, Charity Garno, BSN, RN, and Larry Sears, BSN, RN.

As aspiring CRNAs, our hosts bring diverse backgrounds and experiences to the table. Larry, currently in his second year of a CRNA program, shares his love for game shows and trivia, which often comes in handy in his studies. Olivia, with an unexpected entry into anesthesia, talks about her journey from immunology research to nursing, highlighting her love for reading and baking. Charity, a first-year SRNA, discusses her transition from neonatal ICU to medical ICU nursing during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing the importance of community and support among fellow students. And lastly, Kevin, a third-year SRNA, talks about his long-standing passion for becoming a CRNA and his involvement with the AANA's wellness initiatives.

In future episodes, Grade 1 View aims to cover various topics, including navigating the CRNA application process, mental health and wellness, and effective communication within the healthcare team. We’re excited to share this journey with everyone and would love to hear about your experiences as well.

Here’s some of what we discuss in this episode:

  • What we like most about podcasts and what makes them effective for learning.
  • The topics you can expect us to cover on this show.
